About Joe Pera Talks with You
Joe Pera Talks with You follows middle-school choir teacher Joe Pera as he explains everyday topics like breakfast, dance and grocery stores directly to the camera from his home in Marquette, Michigan. The Adult Swim series grew out of two 2016 specials and aired three seasons from 2018 to 2021.
The specials introduce Joe's calm delivery and his neighbors Sarah and Gene. Season 1 settles into the classroom and church routine. Season 2 adds the lodge trip and furniture-store saga that fans quote most. Season 3 brings the story to a warm close with the Baba O'Reilly move and final choir concert. Watching the specials first makes Joe's later confidence feel earned.
Good to know
Start with the two 2016 specials, then watch seasons one through three in order. The show has light continuity around Joe's relationship, his grandmother's house and the choir calendar, so jumping ahead can confuse who supporting characters are. There is no chronological trick to untangle. The episodes are eleven minutes each, which makes a full rewatch easy in a weekend.
