About The League of Gentlemen

The League of Gentlemen ran 3 series from January 11, 1999 to 2002 on BBC Two with Shearsmith, Pemberton and Gatiss as Royston Vasey's grotesques. Christmas and anniversary specials punctuate the run. The League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse arrived June 2005 theatrically with the characters invading the writers' world.

Later Red Nose and 2017 anniversary specials revisit the town. No fourth series has been made. The 19 episodes plus film form one town mythology with a meta film payoff. Each episode weaves Tubbs, Dentons and Chinnery together.

Good to know

Broadcast order keeps Royston Vasey in-jokes and job swaps straight. The specials slot after their series rather than bunched at the end. The Apocalypse film spoils every major resident, so save it for last. The 2017 specials assume the film outcome. With the trio moved to Inside No. 9 and Psychoville, this town run is closed.
