About Liar Game
Liar Game adapts Shinobu Kaitani's manga about a tournament where contestants con each other out of fortunes: Nao, honest to a fault, teams with the genius ex-con Akiyama to survive each round's game. Season 1 (2007) runs the Revival rounds, season 2 (2009 to 2010) escalates to the semifinals.
The story continues past television into two films: The Final Stage (2010) resolves the tournament, and Reborn (2012) follows new players with Akiyama returning. Watch all four in release order; each round's rules build on the last, so skipping scrambles the logic. The manga runs further than any adaptation, but the films close the show's arc cleanly.
Good to know
Reborn centers on a mostly new cast, which disappoints viewers expecting Nao throughout: treat it as an epilogue with Akiyama as the bridge. The games reward attention, so this is a bad second-screen show; the fun is working the angles yourself before the reveal. No continuation has been announced since 2012, and the manga itself went on long hiatus, so the four entries are the complete set.
