About Malcolm in the Middle
Malcolm in the Middle follows genius kid Malcolm with brothers Francis, Reese and Dewey under Hal and Lois. The original ran seven seasons from 2000 to 2006 with 151 episodes, tracking school, jobs and graduations in broadcast order. Lois and Hal anchor each season while the boys age on screen.
A four episode revival, Life Is Still Unfair, arrived in 2026 on Disney Plus with the family grown. It acts as an epilogue rather than a new season. Watch the original straight through, then the revival, since returns and jobs only land with the full run behind them.
Good to know
Broadcast order matches story order, with grades, jobs and births building year by year. Do not skip ahead, because Francis ranch years, Reese army beats and Malcolm college choice stack. The revival works best after season seven, though its plot recaps enough for returning viewers. Start at season one for the cleanest read on the family rules.
