About Midsomer Murders
Midsomer Murders follows inspectors in fictional Midsomer villages with high body counts. Series 1 from 1997 sets Tom Barnaby with Troy, then Jones and Scott. John Barnaby takes over in series 14 with Jones, Nelson and Winter as sergeants in turn.
Later series keep the cozy murder format with Causton regulars into series 24 to 26 through 2025 to 2026. Cases close each episode with fete and choir motives. Watch in broadcast order to meet each Barnaby handover cleanly, since team trust spans series even when villages reset.
Good to know
Cases can be sampled freely, but watch the handover episodes in order. Tom to John Barnaby only makes sense in sequence, and sergeant exits land better with the run seen. Start with any early Tom case to test the tone, then take the Johns years. New series keep getting ordered, so treat the show as open.
