The original run first, then the prequel as it was released. This is how the story was meant to be seen.

Story order. The Berlin prequel moves to the front because it is set before the Royal Mint job.

About Money Heist

Money Heist aired as two short seasons on Spain's Antena 3 in 2017 before Netflix bought it, recut it into the parts most of the world knows, and closed the story with Part 5 on December 3, 2021. Berlin then rewound the clock, following the Professor's brother on his own jobs: the first season landed on December 29, 2023, and the second, Berlin and the Lady with an Ermine, arrived on May 15, 2026.

Release order is the better first watch, because the showrunners built Berlin as a look back and the prequel plays differently once you know how the original heists end. Strict chronology puts Berlin first. Both routes are listed.

Good to know

Netflix declared the universe still growing at a Seville event on May 10, 2026, and El País reported that Álex Pina's Vancouver label was shooting a four-episode miniseries about Colonel Tamayo, played by Fernando Cayo. It has no release date yet. The Korean remake, Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area, ran in two batches in June and December 2022 and is a retelling rather than a continuation, so skip it on a first pass.
