Narcos Watch Order

Narcos seasons 1 to 3 then Narcos: Mexico seasons 1 to 3 in order, why release order beats chronology here, and where the Escobar and Cali cameos inside Mexico land. Two complete runs totaling six seasons.

About Narcos

Narcos covers Colombia in three seasons: Escobar's rise in 2015, his fall in 2016 with Murphy and Pena, and the Cali Cartel successors in 2017. Narcos: Mexico was planned as season 4 but became a companion series about Guadalajara in the 1980s, with Diego Luna as Felix Gallardo uniting the plazas and Michael Pena as Kiki Camarena. Its second season in 2020 jails Felix, and the third in 2021 follows the splintering 1990s cartels without him.

Release order is recommended because Mexico assumes Colombia knowledge: Escobar and Cali figures cameo, and the Guadalajara-Cali cocaine pipeline only makes sense once Cali exists. Chronological order would pull Mexico's 1980s story ahead, but that spoils Cali reveals. Both shows are complete at three seasons each with no revival announced.

Good to know

Watch Narcos seasons 1 to 3 first, then Mexico 1 to 3. Mexico season 3 works as an epilogue to both shows, with Wagner Moura returning to direct and Escobar figures closing loops. The two runs overlap in the 1980s through the Escobar-Guadalajara connection, so strict chronology would interleave them awkwardly. Pedro Pascal bridges the shows as Pena, which is another reason release order lands better.
