About New Amsterdam
New Amsterdam stars Ryan Eggold as Dr Max Goodwin reforming America's oldest public hospital. Season one from September 2018 runs 22 episodes setting oncology, ED and psychiatry overhauls with Helen Sharpe. Creator David Schulner frames each case around one fixable system.
Seasons two to three through 2021 add 32 more with pandemic and equity plots. Seasons four to five through 2023 close with 35 more to 89 total and a time jump finale after NBC cancellation. Watch all five for the complete Bellevue run with no threads left.
Good to know
Watch seasons one to five in order since Max, Helen, Floyd and Lauren arcs carry over directly each year. Later runs assume you know the S1 Luna custody and S3 Wilder arrival from prior reforms. Cases reset weekly but the hospital funding builds throughout. Treat the 2023 finale as the planned close after the cancellation news with a flash forward.
