About Only Fools and Horses
Only Fools and Horses (1981) follows the Trotter brothers' market-trader schemes across seven series and a run of Christmas specials that turned Del Boy into a national institution. The early series are pure sitcom; the later long specials play like small films, ending with Time on Our Hands in 1996 and a final trilogy to 2003.
Air order is the whole answer: the brothers' fortunes rise and fall across it, and the specials assume you know them. Rock and Chips (2010 to 2011) is a prequel about young Del, and The Green Green Grass (2005 to 2009) follows Boycie's escape to the country. Both spin-offs slot after the main run as bonuses.
Good to know
The show famously grew its audience over years rather than debuting huge, so the slightly rougher 1981 episodes are still worth starting with: the characters click fast. The 1996 to 2003 specials vary in reputation, with Time on Our Hands the consensus peak and the final trilogy divisive. Rock and Chips recasts everyone by necessity and works as a standalone period piece. No reunion has ever been filmed since 2003.
