About Orphan Black
Orphan Black follows Sarah Manning, who witnesses her double's suicide and inherits a conspiracy of clones hunted by the Dyad Institute. The five season original aired 2013 to 2017 with Tatiana Maslany playing the whole clone club, and Echoes continued the world in 2024 with Krysten Ritter.
Watch the original five seasons first, then Echoes. The sequel is set decades later and built for newcomers, but its emotional payoffs around Kira and the clone legacy only register with the original behind you. Echoes was cancelled after one season, so the six entries below are the complete screen story.
Good to know
Maslany's multi clone performance won the Emmy in 2016 and remains the reason to watch: each sister reads as a separate person. Echoes stands apart in cast and era, so think of it as an epilogue chapter rather than season six of the original. No further spin-off is in development after the 2024 cancellation.
