Presumed Innocent reimagines Scott Turow's courtroom novel with Jake Gyllenhaal as prosecutor Rusty Sabich, accused of murdering his colleague Carolyn across eight episodes in 2024. Created by David E. Kelley, it became Apple's most watched drama and was renewed while the finale was still airing.
The second season turns the show into an anthology based on Jo Murray's Dissection of a Murder, with Rachel Brosnahan as defense attorney Leila Reynolds facing her prosecutor husband. Filming wrapped in mid-2026 with no premiere date set. The seasons tell unrelated cases, so either works alone, but season one shows the format at full strength.
Good to know
Air order is the sensible path even though the cases are unrelated. Season one adapts Turow's novel and the 1990 Harrison Ford film beat for beat, while season two starts fresh with a new cast and a new book. Readers should know the show skips Turow's own sequels entirely. The film is worth a look afterward, not before.
