Schmigadoon traps a bickering couple in a golden-age musical town they can only leave through true love. The Apple series ran six episodes from July 2021, parodying Brigadoon with Martin Short and Alan Cumming.
The second season subtitled Schmicago ran six episodes in 2023, spoofing darker 1960s musicals with Dove Cameron joining. Apple cancelled it in January 2024. Watch season one first for the parody rules, then Schmicago. The second assumes the first's true-love escape. Key and McDonough's bickering grounds both fantasies.
Good to know
Air order is required across 12 episodes. Season two's Chicago-era parody builds directly on the couple's season-one resolution, so starting there spoils the original's ending. Musical fans should know every song pastiches a specific classic. The run closed with cancellation after Schmicago. The song pastiches reward Broadway literacy throughout.
