Sherlock is four three-part series plus one special. The special looks Victorian but it aired between series 3 and 4 and plays with the present-day story. Release order is the intended order.
Watch series 1 through 3, then The Abominable Bride, then series 4. Each episode runs about 85 to 90 minutes.

Series dates: 1 (July to August 2010), 2 (January 2012), 3 (January 2014), special The Abominable Bride (January 1, 2016, BBC One and PBS), 4 (January 2017, ending with The Final Problem). No fifth series had been commissioned as of 2026-09-17. Steven Moffat said in December 2024 he would like to make more but there were no hard plans; Mark Gatiss said in June 2025 that Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman did not want to do more and a return was unlikely. Producer Sue Vertue has said a future remains possible if the cast aligns. Treat any series 5 talk as unconfirmed.
