About Silent Witness
Silent Witness follows forensics pathologists solving deaths with police. Series 1 from 1996 sets Sam Ryan, series 8 brings Leo, Harry and Nikki, and later series settle on Nikki, Jack and Clarissa into the 2020s. Cases run as two part stories with autopsy reveals.
Later series keep the same lab format with new Lyell rooms and guest teams. Series 27 to 29 run into 2024 to 2026 with no finale dated. Watch in broadcast order to meet each pathologist handover cleanly, since personal arcs span series even when cases close fast.
Good to know
Cases can be sampled, but watch the handover points in order. Sam to Leo to Nikki changes only make sense in sequence. Later Nikki and Jack years assume long lab trust, so they play cold as a start. New series keep getting ordered, so treat the show as open with no end to aim for as of September 2026.
