Simon and Simon opened November 24, 1981 on CBS about brothers Rick and A.J. Simon running a two man detective agency in San Diego. Season 1 ran 13 episodes to March 1982, with seasons 2 and 3 at 23 each through 1984 and steady Thursday ratings.
Seasons 4 through 6 ran 22 to 24 episodes each through 1987, season 7 ran 16 into April 1988, and season 8 ran 13 to December 1988. CBS left the last two, including the finale Simon Says Goodbye, for syndication in September 1989. No revival has filmed.
Good to know
Watch seasons 1 through 8 in air order from start to finish. Cases stand alone week to week, but the brother dynamic and recurring clients build across years nicely. The move to Saturdays late in the run thins the plots, so expect a leaner close. The two syndicated episodes belong at the very end after the CBS finale slot.
