About St. Elsewhere

Created by Joshua Brand and John Falsey and produced by MTM Enterprises, St. Elsewhere aired on NBC from October 26, 1982 to May 25, 1988. The ensemble included Ed Flanders as Dr. Westphall, William Daniels as Dr. Craig and Norman Lloyd as Dr. Auschlander, with early turns from Denzel Washington, Howie Mandel and Mark Harmon. The show mixed serialized medical drama with odd comedy beats and never rose above 47th in the yearly Nielsen ratings.

The run closed with The Last One on May 25, 1988, famous for revealing much of the series inside the autistic Tommy Westphall snow globe vision. Season 3 ended with Drs. Westphall, Auschlander and Craig drinking at Cheers on March 27, 1985, a full crossover filmed on the Cheers stage. Watch seasons 1 through 6 in airdate order.

Good to know

No chronological reorder is needed. The series plays straight from 1982 to 1988, so release order is story order. Watch the Cheers episode in place as the season 3 finale, since Westphall talk of leaving pays off in the season 4 premiere. Save the finale cold, as the snow globe closing works only after six seasons of St. Eligius history.
