About Super Sentai
Super Sentai is Toei tokusatsu about color teams against weekly monsters, airing on TV Asahi since April 1975. Gorenger ran 1975 to 1977 for 84 episodes from Ishinomori, then JAKQ closed 1977 before a 1978 break. Battle Fever J restarted the line in 1979, with yearly teams through Jetman, Zyuranger, Kakuranger and modern runs to Gozyuger as season 49.
Toei confirmed a hiatus after Gozyuger, with Project RED taking the slot in 2026. Power Rangers adapted many seasons for the US from Zyuranger onward, but the Japanese line tells its own yearly stories. Films retell TV arcs and stay optional beside the broadcast runs.
Good to know
Any season can start viewing since casts reset yearly, but broadcast order shows suit, mech and tone growth from 1975 miniatures to modern CGI. Start with Gorenger for origins or Zyuranger for the Power Rangers bridge, then move by era. Movies and crossovers slot after their TV year and can be skipped without losing the next team.
