About The Goodies
Tim Brooke-Taylor, Graeme Garden and Bill Oddie wrote and starred in The Goodies, first on BBC2 from November 8, 1970 to February 18, 1980, then for LWT on ITV from December 27, 1981 to February 13, 1982. The run totals 9 series and around 75 episodes plus specials, produced by John Howard Davies, Jim Franklin and Bob Spiers. The trio played exaggerated versions of themselves, riding a three seater trandem from an office that promised anything, anytime.
Famous outings include Kitten Kong, The Movies and Ecky Thump, mixing slapstick, surreal sketches and songs like The Funky Gibbon. Episodes stand alone, so strict continuity is light. Still, watch BBC series 1 through 8 first, then the ITV series 9, since jokes and production style build across the decade.
Good to know
No chronological reorder is needed. Each episode is a self contained job or parody, so release order equals story order for practical purposes. The network move matters only for sourcing. BBC holds series 1 to 8 from 1970 to 1980 and LWT holds series 9 from 1981 to 1982. Keep broadcast order and you will follow the trio from BBC2 origins to the ITV close.
