About The Haunting
The Haunting from Mike Flanagan is a two season anthology on Netflix with new stories each time. The Haunting of Hill House arrived October 12, 2018 with ten episodes about the Crain family across past and present. The Haunting of Bly Manor followed October 9, 2020 with nine episodes about au pair Dani at an English manor.
Bly adapts The Turn of the Screw while Hill House adapts Shirley Jackson. Cast like Victoria Pedretti and Oliver Jackson-Cohen return in new roles. Flanagan left Netflix in 2022, so no third Haunting season is planned and the duology is complete.
Good to know
Watch Hill House first for the stronger horror and family puzzle, then Bly Manor for the slower gothic romance. Order does not affect plot since ghosts and houses do not cross over. Hill House runs about ten hours with hidden ghosts in nearly every scene. Bly runs about eight hours and plays softer. Both need full attention for timeline jumps in episodes five and six.
