About The Pacific
The Pacific is the second Playtone and DreamWorks companion piece after Band of Brothers, before Masters of the Air. Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman produce for HBO at 217 million dollars. James Badge Dale plays Leckie, Joe Mazzello plays Sledge, Jon Seda plays Basilone.
Ten parts aired March 14 to May 16, 2010 weekly. The run moves from Pearl Harbor enlistment through Guadalcanal jungle, Melbourne leave, Peleliu heat, Basilone home hero turn and Okinawa strain to the Home return. Music comes from Hans Zimmer with Geoff Zanelli and Blake Neely.
Good to know
Watch parts 1 through 10 in order. The three Marine threads braid across battles, so skipping breaks the home front payoffs. Peleliu and Okinawa hours play hardest and need the Melbourne calm before them. Part Ten Home closes all three arcs. Pair with Band of Brothers before and Masters of the Air after for the full trilogy.
