About Twin Peaks
Twin Peaks premiered on ABC in 1990, with FBI agent Dale Cooper investigating Laura Palmer's murder across two seasons and 30 episodes. Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992) is David Lynch's prequel film covering Laura's last days.
Twin Peaks: The Missing Pieces (2014) collects deleted scenes from the film, and Twin Peaks: The Return (2017) continues the story 25 years later on Showtime across 18 episodes. Release order is the intended path.

Film-placement debate: Fire Walk with Me assumes knowledge of the series' central mystery, so it belongs between season 2 and The Return and should never be watched first, even though it is a prequel in story terms. The Return builds directly on imagery and plot threads from the film. The Missing Pieces is a deleted-scenes compilation, optional viewing for completists. No further season had been announced as of 2026-09-17.
