Two seasons, prequel film, then revival.

About Twin Peaks

Twin Peaks tracks Agent Cooper probing Laura Palmer death in a logging town hiding the Red Room. Season 1 from 1990 sets the pilot and killer question across 8 episodes, season 2 from 1990 resolves it then widens to Windom Earle across 22 episodes, and Fire Walk With Me from 1992 rewinds to Laura last week.

The Return from 2017 runs 18 parts on Showtime 25 years later with Cooper split. Watch seasons 1 and 2 first, then the film as a prequel flashback, then The Return last since it assumes all prior deaths. The Missing Pieces deleted scenes play as extras after the film.

Good to know

Release order beats chronological order because the film spoils the killer by design. Watch season 1 straight for the pilot dread before season 2 solves it mid run. Fire Walk With Me plays harsher without the town humor, so expect a tone shift there. Treat The Return as the close with the finale left open on purpose and no fourth season dated.
