About Under the Banner of Heaven
Under the Banner of Heaven adapts Jon Krakauer book about 1984 Utah murders of Brenda and baby by fundamentalist Laffertys. Created by Dustin Lance Black, the seven episodes move from When God Was Love through Rightful Place and Surrender to Blood Atonement.
All episodes aired April 28, 2022 onward on Hulu with Gil Birmingham as Bill Taba and Sam Worthington as Ron. The story weaves Pyre investigation with Mormon origin history toward manhunt. Watch in release order since each Lafferty interrogation and faith crack stacks toward the final atonement list.
Good to know
Release order is story order across seven hours with no spinoffs to place. Start at the premiere for double homicide setup that triggers Pyre doubt and Taba method. The finale manhunt lands only after full fundamentalist build, so sequential viewing matters. As a completed limited series, these seven form the entire guide.
