Wiseguy follows undercover agent Vinnie Terranova infiltrating mob crews across four seasons from September 1987 to December 1990. Ken Wahl leads multi episode arcs against Mel Proctor, the Garment District and Seattle yakuza with handler Frank McPike guiding each long con.
Broadcast order is the guide because each arc builds on prior covers and injuries that carry forward. Watch Season 1 from 1987 for the Sonny Steelgrave rise, Season 2 for the Mel Profitt fall, Season 3 for the Garment trade war, then Season 4 for the Seattle close. The show serializes cover identities, so arcs lose impact out of sequence.
Good to know
Each season runs about 22 episodes with arcs spanning six to ten episodes, so the 75 episode run rewards steady viewing rather than sampling.
