About A Place Further than the Universe
A Place Further than the Universe aired January to March 2018 from Madhouse about second year Mari joining Shirase, Hinata and Yuzuki to reach Antarctica. Early episodes set part jobs and permission fights across Tokyo with mom emails.
Later episodes shift to ship life and base work with storms and letters, closing in 13 episodes with aurora goodbyes. The story runs one straight line with no films or prequels, so broadcast order keeps the trip clear. The pace stays steady across entries, with each part adding new faces without losing the core tone.
Good to know
There is no separate chronological order worth listing since all 13 episodes run in sequence with no side arcs to reorder. Watch episodes 1 to 4 for setup, 5 to 9 for ship training, then 10 to 13 for the base close. The manga retells the same beats, so the anime alone covers the story. Plan extra time for finales, since later parts assume full knowledge of earlier twists.
