About Anne Shirley
Anne Shirley is a new adaptation of L. M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables, based on Hanako Muraoka's Japanese translation. The Answer Studio produced 24 episodes for NHK Educational TV, covering three books: Green Gables, Avonlea, and Island. Crunchyroll and Ani-One Asia streamed it.
Episodes ran April 5 to September 27, 2025. A Kanto rebroadcast on Fuji TV started October 4, 2026. No second season was announced. Treat the 24 episodes as a complete coming-of-age run that ends with Anne's teaching years.
Good to know
There is no separate chronological order for Anne Shirley worth listing. The show adapts the books in order with no flashback seasons to reorder. Watch episodes 1 through 24 in broadcast order. Older adaptations like the 1979 Akage no Anne are separate productions, not prerequisites. If a follow-up covering later books is announced, it would slot after episode 24.
