About Basilisk
Basilisk follows Gennosuke of Kouga and Oboro of Iga caught in a ten versus ten death pact to pick the shogun heir. The 2005 series runs 24 episodes through the Iga Tsubagakure war to a hard close. Ouka Ninja Scrolls from 2018 follows their children Hachiro and Hibiki ten years later across 24 episodes with new clans.
Watch the 2005 series first since Ouka assumes the pact deaths and techniques. The shows share ninja scroll rules but not the same war, so the sequel plays as a next generation rather than a remake. The manga source ended with the first war, which makes Ouka anime led for the second.
Good to know
Release order is story order with the sequel set a decade later. The 2005 run ends firmly, so expect no resurrections going into Ouka. New viewers should finish Kouga Iga before Ouka names land, because children inherit eyes and grudges directly. Treat Ouka as the current end, with no third Basilisk dated and the pact closed twice.
