About Beck
Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad ran 26 episodes from October 2004 to March 2005 at Madhouse, following Koyuki Tanaka joining Ryusuke guitar band. The run covers club gigs, label fights, and original songs led by Beat Crusaders Hit in the USA.
The live action film from September 2010 retells the same rise with Takeru Satoh as Koyuki and Hiro Mizushima as Ryusuke across 145 minutes. The manga by Harold Sakuishi ran 1999 to 2008 and finished in 34 volumes. No new anime has been announced beyond anniversary posts and a 2026 omnibus reissue.
Good to know
Watch the 26 episode anime first, then the film as an alternate cut if you want it. The film compresses years of band progress into one arc, so character turns land harder with the series behind you. The anime ending still stops before the manga final chapters, but it closes on a stage high rather than a cliffhanger.
