About Brave
The Brave series is Sunrise and Takara annual super robot run from 1990 to 1997, followed by the GaoGaiGar FINAL OVA from 2000 to 2003. Each TV entry runs over 40 episodes with its own kid lead, robot team and villains, and timelines do not connect. Exkaiser opens the run, Fighbird, Da-Garn and Might Gaine follow the early formula.
J-Decker adds police procedural structure, Goldran turns to treasure hunting, Dagwon shifts to teen fusion heroes, and GaoGaiGar closes the TV run on the largest scale. Watch in release order for the genre evolution, or start with any single series since plots never depend on prior shows.
Good to know
Release order is recommended because story order does not apply across standalone continuities. The one exception is GaoGaiGar, where the 49 episode TV series must come before the 8 episode FINAL OVA. Betterman is an optional 1999 spinoff in the GaoGaiGar universe and Dagwon has a 1997 Crystal Eye OVA, both skippable on a first pass. No new Brave TV series has been announced.
