About Captain Harlock
Captain Harlock is Leiji Matsumoto's space pirate saga, spread across alternate retellings rather than one strict timeline, from the 1978 TV series to the 2013 CG film. Release order is the recommended path, since the 1982 Arcadia of My Youth film retells Harlock's origin after the fact and later OVAs revisit the same legend from new angles.
Good to know
Continuities diverge between the 1978 series line and the Arcadia line, so treat the chronological list as a story-first option rather than strict canon. The 35-minute Mystery of the Arcadia short from July 1978 is an optional recap for completists.
