About Durarara
Durarara adapts Ryohgo Narita's light novels about Ikebukuro's gangs, the headless rider Celty and the Dollars. Season one aired 24 episodes in 2010 from Brain's Base. The sequel Durarara x2 from Shuka split into three cours: Shou (2015, 12 episodes), Ten (2015, 12 episodes) and Ketsu (2016, 12 episodes), covering the Holy Night, Dragon Zombie and final war arcs.
The novels finished the main run with more side volumes after, but the anime closed in 2016 with the Dollars disbanding arc resolved. No sequel has been announced, leaving x2 Ketsu as the planned ending rather than a cancellation stop.
Good to know
Watch the 2010 season first, then x2 Shou, Ten and Ketsu in order, since every gang alliance assumes the last one. The x2 cours aired months apart but tell one continuous story, so treat the three as one long second season. OVAs and the 4-koma shorts are comedy extras that fit nowhere required for the main gang war.
