About 07th Expansion
07th Expansion is Ryukishi07's doujin circle, built on the Higurashi and Umineko sound novels. The anime path starts at Studio Deen: Higurashi When They Cry ran 26 episodes from April to September 2006, and Higurashi Kai answered it across 24 episodes from July to December 2007. Higurashi Rei followed as a 5 episode OVA from February to August 2009, while Umineko When They Cry aired its 26 episode question run from July to December 2009.
Passione revived Higurashi with Gou, 24 episodes from October 2020 to March 2021, which poses as a remake before revealing a sequel. Sotsu answered Gou across 15 episodes from July to September 2021. Ciconia, the circle's newer visual novel, has Phase 1 out since 2019 with Phase 2 delayed and no anime announced, so it sits outside this list.
Good to know
Release order is the viewing order, since Gou directly replays scenes from the 2006 run and Sotsu retells Gou from the other side. Watch items 1 through 4 before touching Gou. For full detail use the dedicated Higurashi watch order and Umineko watch order guides, since this page is the circle overview and stays with the six core anime entries. Ciconia has no anime to place yet.
