About Fist of the North Star
Fist of the North Star defined 1980s shonen action: Kenshiro wanders a nuclear wasteland exploding villains with Hokuto Shinken pressure points on his way to Raoh. The Toei series ran 152 episodes from 1984 to 1988 across two runs, adapting the manga's core with era-typical filler.
The 2026 remake from TMS retells the story in CG, streaming worldwide on Prime Video from April 2026 with a second cour set for 2027. Newcomers can start with either version: the remake is tighter and manga-faithful, the original is the cultural landmark. The 1986 film and the Legends of the True Savior films are optional retellings for after you know the story.
Good to know
The original's two runs are usually listed as one 152-episode series, split into the Shin and Raoh arcs: both are the same continuity, so there is nothing to choose between. Legends of the True Savior (five films, 2006 to 2008) retells the Raoh material with a different ending and works as a comparative bonus. The 2026 remake covers the early arcs first, so its second cour in 2027 decides how far the new version goes.
