About Free!
Free! follows Haruka Nanase and his Iwatobi swim club against Rin Matsuoka from Kyoto Animation. Season one aired 12 episodes in 2013 with the club reunion, Eternal Summer aired 13 in 2014 with the regionals, and Dive to the Future aired 12 in 2018 moving Haruka to college and Rin pro. The Final Stroke films in 2021 close the world-tournament arc across two parts.
Take Your Marks (2017) collects four side stories around the earlier seasons, and the High Speed films retell Haruka's middle-school years as a prequel. The light novels ended the source run, and no new anime has been announced, leaving Final Stroke as the planned close.
Good to know
Watch three seasons in order, then Take Your Marks as side stories, then the two Final Stroke films last, since the world-stage plot assumes the college buildup. The High Speed prequels work best after meeting adult Haruka rather than first. Timeless Medley recaps can be skipped entirely on a first run without losing plot.
