About Heike Story
Heike Story adapts the Tale of the Heike through Biwa, a girl who can see the dead. The anime follows the Taira rise and fall from the point Biwa joins them, ending where the historical account turns. Eleven episodes aired in late 2021 on Fuji TV block, directed by Naoko Yamada at Science SARU.
The source is the medieval war tale, not a sequel chain, so there is no earlier anime season to watch first. Watch episodes 1 through 11 in order. The run is complete and self contained, with court music and dance marking each turning point.
Good to know
There is no film, OVA or second season to slot. Release order and story order are the same straight line. Readers who want more can turn to the Royall Tyler or Helen McCullough translations of the Tale after episode 11, since the anime compresses several years into its short run. The Biwa framing holds all eleven parts together.
