About Insomniacs After School
Insomniacs After School adapts Makoto Ojiro manga about insomniacs Ganta Nakami and Isaki Magari sharing the school observatory. The Liden Films anime aired April to July 2023 for 13 episodes, each named for a star, covering the astronomy club restart and camp. The live action film from Chihiro Ikeda opened June 23, 2023 in Japan, shot in Nanao with Nana Mori and Daiken Okudaira.
The manga ran May 2019 to August 2023, closing just as both versions landed. The anime and film cover the same core arc with different pacing, so either works alone, but the anime holds more star lore and side club members.
Good to know
Watch the anime first for the full club buildup, then the film as a condensed live retelling if curious about the Nanao shoot. There is no sequel season, since the manga ended in 2023 and no continuation has been announced. The film is not a sequel to the anime, so do not expect new plot after episode 13.
