About The Irresponsible Captain Tylor
The Irresponsible Captain Tylor follows Justy Tylor, a pension schemer who lucks into commanding the Soyokaze against the Raalgon Empire. Tatsunoko aired 26 episodes January to July 1993, mixing destroyer battles with Yamamoto's by the book fury. A ten episode OVA ran 1994 to 1996 with Daume then Deen on animation, continuing the war.
Musekinin Galaxy Tylor from 2017 revived the name as twelve three minute shorts. No film was ever made, the 1995 material is OVA middle chapters. Watch the TV run first, then the OVA, then the shorts as a bonus. Nothing is announced past the shorts.
Good to know
Release order is the story order. The OVA assumes the Soyokaze crew and the Dom bellows dynamic from the TV run, so starting there strands newcomers. The OVA episodes split across 1994, 1995 and 1996 but tell one war in sequence. The 2017 shorts share the name with a new crew and slot last as extras. No continuation is announced.
