About Kirarin Revolution

Kirarin Revolution adapts An Nakahara's manga about Kirari Tsukishima, a girl who enters the idol world to get closer to her crush Seiji and stays because she falls in love with performing. Animated by SynergySP for TV Tokyo, the series aired from April 2006 to March 2009, while the manga passed 10 million copies and won the Shogakukan children's manga award.

The first 102 episodes are classic 2D idol anime, then Stage 3 switches to HD 3D animation with Kirari performing in the trio MilkyWay. Watch the three stages in broadcast order: each one picks up where the last ended, and the animation change makes far more sense once you have seen the earlier style.

Good to know

This is a straight line: season one (episodes 1-51), season two (52-102) and Stage 3 (103-153), with no films or OVAs between them. European viewers may know the show as Kilari, the title Viz Media Europe used. Expect the visual shift at episode 103; the story continues without a reboot, so do not skip ahead or treat Stage 3 as separate.
