About My Hero Academia

My Hero Academia ran eight seasons on Japanese television from April 2016 to December 2025, 170 episodes following Izuku Midoriya from a Quirkless kid to the final war. The regular run ended with season 8 on December 13, 2025, and two epilogue pieces followed: the More special on May 2, 2026, adapting epilogue chapter 431, and the six-minute I am a hero too short in August 2026.

Four theatrical films opened between 2018 and 2024, each an original story sitting loosely around the seasons airing at the time. The Vigilantes anime adapted the prequel manga across two seasons in 2025 and 2026, following Koichi Haimawari five years before Deku starts at U.A.

Good to know

Release order and story order differ in two places. Two Heroes dropped in the middle of season 3's broadcast but its story sits before it, and Vigilantes is a prequel, so the chronological list runs both of its seasons first. The ten OVAs are self-contained side stories and are left off both lists. A third Vigilantes season has not been announced as of September 2026.
