About Nana
Nana follows two young women sharing the name Nana in Tokyo: punk singer Nana Osaki and Hachi Komatsu. The live action film from September 2005 covers the early manga with Mika Nakashima as Osaki, and Nana 2 from December 2006 continues that cast with some recasts.
The anime ran 47 episodes from April 2006 to March 2007 at Madhouse, adapting further into the story with full band plots. The manga by Ai Yazawa has been on hiatus since June 2009, though she said in 2025 the ending is largely decided. No new anime or film has been announced.
Good to know
New viewers should pick one path: the 47 episode anime for the fullest run, or the two films for a short version of the start. The films and anime overlap rather than continue each other, so watching all three repeats the opening. The manga halt means every screen version ends without a true finale.
