About Peter Pan

Nippon Animation aired Peter Pan no Boken in 1989 in the World Masterpiece Theater line, adapting J. M. Barrie with Wendy joining Peter in Neverland. Early episodes cover her arrival, hideout rules, the lagoon and the first raids by Captain Hook. The middle stretch follows the Darling brothers settling into wild life while Hook plots traps around Skull Rock.

The closing run pays off the pirate war and the choice between endless youth or returning to London, ending after 41 episodes. Takashi Nakamura directed with the warm theater look the strand was known for. Watch episodes 1 through 41 in broadcast order, since friendships, grudges and Hook schemes carry straight through to the farewell.

Good to know

Watch all 41 episodes in broadcast order, since the Hook feud and the Darling stay build step by step toward the farewell. The show adapts Barrie loosely, with new faces and longer island arcs around the pirate crew. No sequel connects to this version, making the 1989 run fully closed. Track Wendy, John, Michael and the Lost Boys closely because their growth drives the final choice.
