About The Prince of Tennis
Ryoma Echizen joins Seigaku's tennis team shortly after returning from the United States, and the original TV series tracks the team's run from district qualifiers to the national tournament's doorstep. The 178 episodes aired on TV Tokyo from October 2001 to March 2005. The show stops at the Nationals opening ceremony, so the three National Tournament OVA seasons from 2006 to 2009 (26 episodes total) are required viewing, not extras.
The sequel rebrand New Prince of Tennis (13 episodes, 2012) moves the middle schoolers into the U-17 training camp, and the 10-episode vs Genius 10 OVA (2014 to 2015) carries that story forward into the World Cup seasons of 2022 and 2024. The next season, Finals Members Decisive Match, premieres September 30, 2026 and covers the intra-squad selection matches before the final against Spain. Films and Another Story OVAs slot between the two eras as side stories.
Good to know
Best Games!! (2018 to 2020) re-animates selected classic matches, Hyoutei vs Rikkai: Game of Future (2021) is an exhibition side story, and Ryoma! (2021) is an original film with a time-travel plot; all three are optional and sit outside the main list. Some guides reorder the Another Story OVAs and the 2011 British Castle film; release order keeps them consistent. The September 30, 2026 premiere date comes from the official tenipuri.jp announcement of August 14, 2026.
