About Sailor Moon
Naoko Takeuchi's Sailor Moon follows Usagi Tsukino and the Guardians from the Dark Kingdom through the Black Moon, Infinity, Dream and Stars arcs. The 1990s Toei run totals 200 episodes across five seasons from 1992 to 1997 with three films, and it adds filler, softens deaths and stretches daily life scenes.
Newcomers should take the Crystal path, which tracks the manga more closely with a steadier tone. Watch Crystal Seasons 1 to 3 from 2014 to 2016, then the Eternal two parter from 2021 as season 4, then the Cosmos two parter from 2023 as season 5. Use the 90s list when you want the longer, lighter ensemble version.
Good to know
R, S and SuperS films slot after their matching 90s seasons. The Ami's First Love short screens with the SuperS film. Crystal Seasons 1 and 2 total 26 episodes and Season 3 adds 13; Eternal and Cosmos are each two feature parts.
