About Samurai Champloo
Samurai Champloo follows vagrants Mugen and Jin escorting waitress Fuu across Edo Japan to find a samurai who smells of sunflowers. Manglobe produced 26 episodes directed by Shinichiro Watanabe with hip hop music from Nujabes and others.
Episodes 1 through 17 aired on Fuji TV from May to September 2004 before cancellation, then episodes 18 through 26 aired on BS Fuji from January to March 2005 as a second run. There is no movie. The manga ran two volumes in 2004 and the soundtracks carry the same trip hop style.
Good to know
There is no chronological order for Champloo. Most episodes are standalone stops on the road with a final arc in episodes 24 through 26, so release order is story order. The broadcast split looks like two seasons but tells one quest. No sequel has been announced and studio Manglobe closed in 2015, so the road ends here.
