About Sand Land
Sand Land adapts Akira Toriyama's short manga in two parts: the 2023 theatrical film that covers the manga quest for the Legendary Spring, and the 2024 series that extends the story with a new Forest Land arc. Both follow demon prince Beelzebub, Sheriff Rao and Thief across a desert world short on water.
Release order is the guide because the series opens with a recut of the film before continuing into new material. Watch the 2023 film first for the complete manga arc, then move to the 2024 series for the extended Forest Land chapters. The two parts share cast and continuity, so no alternate story order is needed.
Good to know
The 2023 film runs 103 minutes and adapts the full manga in one sitting, which makes it the fastest entry point. The 2024 series runs 13 episodes and reuses the film story in its first six with extra scenes, then adds seven new Forest Land episodes. If you watch both, expect overlap early. Toriyama designed the Forest Land story before his passing, and the series completes it.
