About Steins;Gate
Steins;Gate follows Rintaro Okabe, a self-proclaimed mad scientist whose circle turns a broken microwave into a time machine in Akihabara. The original 24 episodes ran from April to September 2011 and wrapped with a proper ending, which is why Steins;Gate 0 gets read as a sequel when it is really the route where Okabe's first attempt to save Kurisu fails.
Steins;Gate 0 aired 23 episodes in 2018 and needs the original to make sense. Around those two series sit a 2012 OVA, a 2013 film, four short promotional episodes from 2014, and a 2015 alternate episode 23 that was broadcast as a lead-in to Steins;Gate 0.
Good to know
The two lists differ only in where episode 23 and Steins;Gate 0 sit. Release order finishes the original first, while the second list follows the alternate route the 2015 special was made to set up. My Darling's Embrace is a visual novel with no anime adaptation, and STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT, released August 20, 2026, is a game remake. The announced Steins;??? project is still unreleased and no new anime has been announced.
