Watanabe stages the attacks as puzzles where each clue pays off only in sequence. Nine, Twelve and Lisa form the run's core trio.
Good to know
Watch episodes 1 through 11 in broadcast order. MAPPA aired the run in summer 2014 with no sequel, so the eleven form the complete story. Yoko Kanno scored the run with Icelandic vocals. The Sphinx riddles reference Oedipus throughout, which lands best without skipping ahead. Start at the first riddle video.
