About Toward the Terra
Toward the Terra adapts Keiko Takemiya's manga about a future where humanity lives in space colonies under computer control. Teenager Jomy Marquis Shin learns he is one of the Mu, psychics hunted by the Superior Domination regime. Under Soldier Blue and later as leader himself, he joins their long search for a way back to Earth.
The 1980 Toei Animation film directed by Hideo Onchi condenses that story into about two hours. The 2007 TV series remakes it across 24 episodes aired April 7 to September 22, 2007, with room for Keith Anyan, Station E-1077 and the colony on Nasca. Watch the film first, then the series.
Good to know
The film and the TV series are separate tellings of the same manga, not a sequel and a prequel. Characters overlap and events repeat with different pacing and added subplots in the TV version. For that reason release order is recommended. Watch the 1980 film first for the compact original, then the 2007 series for the expanded and complete version.
