Classic (1993 to 1994)
- 1 Kenyuu Densetsu Yaiba 52 episodes, April 1993 to April 1994. Pastel. Full adaptation of Aoyama's manga in the style of its era.
- 2 Detective Conan OVA: Conan vs. Kid vs. Yaiba 24-minute crossover released October 11, 2000. Conan, Kaito Kid and Yaiba chase a stolen sword. Standalone; watch any time.
Remake (Wit Studio, same story)
- 3 Yaiba: Samurai Legend Season 1 24 episodes, April 5 to September 27, 2025. Wit Studio. Retells the manga from the start with Aoyama supervising.
Remake continuation (announced)
- 4 Yaiba: Samurai Legend Season 2: Kaguya Arc Announced September 2025; teaser visual shown March 2026. Covers the Kaguya arc. No air date as of September 17, 2026.
About Yaiba
Yaiba Kurogane trains in the jungle, moves in with the Mine family in Japan, and duels rival Takeshi Onimaru for the swords of the wind and thunder gods. Gosho Aoyama wrote the manga from 1988 to 1993, before Detective Conan, and the first anime ran 52 episodes from April 1993 to April 1994.
Release order works. The 2000 Conan crossover is a standalone extra. Wit Studio's Shin Samurai-den Yaiba remake retells the same story from April to September 2025 across 24 episodes, so pick one version and treat the other as optional. A second remake season covering the Kaguya arc was announced in September 2025, with a teaser visual shown in March 2026, but no air date had been set as of September 2026.
Good to know
Some guides list the 1993 series at 24 episodes, which is wrong. The 1993 run is 52 episodes; 24 is the episode count of the remake's first season. Minami Takayama voices Yaiba in both versions. The remake streams under license from Viz Media.
