About Yona of the Dawn
Princess Yona flees the Kouka palace with bodyguard Son Hak after her cousin Soo-won's coup, then seeks the four dragon warriors from legend. Studio Pierrot adapted Mizuho Kusanagi's manga into 24 TV episodes airing October 7, 2014 to March 24, 2015, directed by Kazuhiro Yoneda with scripts by Shinichi Inotsume. The run covers Yona gathering the dragons through the Awa pirate arc.
Three OVA episodes followed with manga volumes: September 18, 2015 for the hot spring bonus and Kija backstory, August 19, 2016 and December 20, 2016 for the two part Zeno past arc. A sequel anime was announced in December 2025 as the manga closed its run, with format and date still to be confirmed. Watch the TV series first, then the OVAs in release order.
Good to know
There is no separate chronological order worth listing for this linear fantasy. Release order and story order are the same list, since the OVAs are side chapters and a prequel flashback that land best after you know the group. Watch all 24 TV episodes first, then the 2015 OVA, then the two 2016 Zeno episodes. The sequel announced in December 2025 has no date yet.
