About Ao Haru Ride
Ao Haru Ride adapts Io Sakisaka's shoujo manga with Futaba reuniting with first love Kou in high school. The TV series ran 12 episodes from July to September 2014 on Tokyo MX. Two OVAs bundled with manga volumes continue school festival and study trip stories. Live-action films Ao Haru Ride Part 1 and Part 2 arrived in December 2014 retelling the romance with new actors.
Production I.G animated the TV run. The manga ran 2011 to 2015 in Bessatsu Margaret. No second TV season has been made. The OVAs slot after the series, while the films stand apart as their own continuity.
Good to know
TV first is essential, since the OVAs reference its class festival outcomes. The two live films compress the whole manga into hours and change scenes, so watch them after the anime as alternates. The manga ending goes past all screen versions for readers who want closure. With no TV sequel dated, the 2014 OVAs close the animated run.
